8.8cm Racketenwerfer 43 (Puppchen)
The 8.8cm Raketenwerfer 43 was more popularly known as the Puppchen (Dolly). Although in appearance it resembled a conventional piece of artillery, it was a rocket launcher which fired a 3.5" rocket grenade up to 700 yards. Although only 3-feet in height, this could be even further reduced by removal of the road wheels, resting the chassis on the two rocker sledges. For transport it could be towed by any light vehicle or broken down into its constituent parts. Although found to be very successful, not many were built. Operationally, not much is known about where it was used, with photographic evidence being limited to Italy only.
