Over 6,000 of these cast hull tanks were built. This version differed from the earlier version in having a one-piece differential housing, M34A1 gun mantle, the addition of applique armour and the later VVSS suspension. They were designated the Sherman II by the British.

The A22 Churchill is probably Britain's best-known tank with 5,640 built in eleven marks and numerous specialist variants. These types were used for Home Defence and Training in the UK with some going to the Soviet Union. Modified for amphibious operations, they were used at Dieppe. Limited numbers, with alterations, saw action in Tunisia and also in Italy. The Mark I variant is illustrated but both the Mk.ICS and the Mark II can be built from this kit with optional parts supplied.

Our model depicts a Mk. IV "Armoured Vehicle Royal Engineers" armed with the 29cm Petard spigot mortar. Like most AVRE's, attachment points were fitted for varying tasks. Introduced as a result of the Dieppe experience,180 were ready for D-Day with a further 574 later converted. Photographic evidence shows many without track guards and this is available as BB079, however most vehicles had fully covered tracks as per this kit. The kit is supplied with the "horns" as separate parts with the option of putting either on or off.
These Marks were the last major variants of the Churchill to be introduced and had a completely new design of turret and a redesigned hull. The Mk.VII had a 75mm gun with the Mk. VIII only differing by the substitution of a 95mm howitzer. The Mk.VII was also chosen for the Crocodile Flame Thrower version. Entering service in mid 1944, they saw action in NW Europe and for many years afterwards including the Korean War. Our model comes with optional armament and has the front "Horns" supplied separately making this model ideal for the diorama builder.
US combat experience vindicated British criticism of some design aspects of the M3 Stuart. This led to the final and best production model of the M3 series, the M3A3, designated as the Stuart V in British service. In total 3,427 were built entering service in early 1943. The majority were supplied to the British and some to the Free French. They saw action in Italy and NW Europe. In turn, the British supplied them to the Polish Armoured Divisions and a small number to Tito's Yugoslav Partizans. Approximately 1,000 were also supplied to the Chinese 1st. Provisional Tank Unit that served in northern Burma with "US advisors". They never saw action with US forces.
