Caterpillar D7 3t Diesel Crawler Tractor
The Caterpillar D7 was first manufactured in 1938 and had a long service life in the U.S. Military. During WW II, the D7 was one of the bulldozers collectively known as "Tractor, Heavy, M1", which included many different variants of D7 as well as dozers produced by other manufacturers. D7s were also supplied to the British and other allies under Lend Lease.
It was powered by a Caterpillar, turbocharged diesel, 4-cylinder, liquid-cooled, 831 ci (13.6-litre) engine which was started with a small 2-cylinder pony engine.
Although primarily used for earth-moving, the D7 was also employed to move other pieces of 155mm or heavy equipment including the "Long Tom" 155mm Gun.
