KV2 (M1939) 152mm SPG
The KV2 heavy assault tank with the M-10 152 mm howitzer was produced at the same time as the KV-1 and the first production type (See BR48) was available for the latter stages of the Winter War against Finland in February 1940. at Summa. Only a few M1939 KV2's were built but they too were deployed against the invaders in 1941.

Originally known as KV "Large Turret", the KV2 heavy assault tank (also known as Dreadnought's) with the M-10 152 mm howitzer was produced at the same time as the KV-1 and the first production type was available for the latter stages of the Winter War against Finland in early 1940.
Although on occasion they could be impressive, they were too slow moving and bunker-busting was not as useful in the highly mobile, fluid warfare that developed on the Eastern Front. The huge turrets were so heavythey proved difficult to traverse on non-level terrain and they were expensive to produce. About 300 KV-2's were made, all in 1939-40. When Tank production was moved across the Ural Mountains to the 'Tankograd' complex, the KV-2 was dropped. Many KV-2's were later converted into KV-1's.
The Germans occassionaly deployed captured KV2's and designated them as (Sturm)Panzer kampfwagen KV-II 754(r)
