Porsche Tiger VK4501(P) (Operational)

Porsche Tiger VK4501(P) (Operational)

Following the rejection of his prototype design (SKU: BG259) in favour of the Henschel Tiger, Ferdinand Porsche was left with a number of hulls and suspension systems which had been built in anticipation. However in keeping with Hitler's practice, the Porsche designs that had been built were also accepted, and with modifications these vehicles were then put into service on the Eastern Front. The remaining hulls were used to produce the Ferdinand, Elephant, Bergetiger (P) (SKU: G106) and in the final form as the Tiger P2 (SKU: BG089). This vehicle (chassis no. 150013) served as a command tank under the designation Panzerbefehlswagen VI(P). It fought in s.Pz.Jg.Abt.653 (schwere Heeres Panzerjager Abteilung 653) on the Eastern Front in early-to-mid 1944. The commander of the vehicle was Hauptmann Grillenberg, and it bore the turret number ‘003’.

Our model has is finished in Zimmerit as per photographic evidence. A range of other vehicles used by Abt.653 are also available. See SKU: BG233; BG234; BG244; BG244F.
