M3 Light Tank (Early) - Hexagonal Turret
This early-production type of the M3 had a rivetted hexagonal turret. This type saw action with the US Army in Tunisia and in the Philippines in 1942. Ironically, captured M3s were then used by the Japanese against the liberating American forces in 1945 becoming the last M3s to be used in action.

M3 Light Tank (Mid-Production) Horseshoe Turret - Early Cupola
The mid-production type of the M3 had a welded turret and redesigned cupola. This type of M3 saw service with the Americans in the Tunisian campaign.

M3 Light Tank (Mid-Production) Horseshoe Turret - Early Cupola with Auxiliary Fuel Tanks
Following recommendations made by the British for the adaptation of fuel tanks that could be jettisoned, many vehicles in North Africa had twin 25 gallon tanks mounted on the rear hull.
