Used by the RASC and the Royal Engineers, with some also used by the RAF for airfield repairs etc., from 1940 onwards and saw wide service in Western Europe from 1944. Thet were popularly known as the "Dennis Pig". Using a PTO from the gearbox, it operated a single telescopic ram to elevate the rear body to release its load under the top hinged tailgate. The wooden tipper body, which was internally lined by tinplate, had removable sides so allowing the vehicle to be also used as a Flatbed if required. (See UK281F) 939 and 1944.
