Karrier K6 GS
Karrier Motors, originally founded as Clayton & Co. of Huddersfield, was acquired by the Rootes Group in 1934. Production of the Karrier K6 began in late 1940, with an initial order of 500 units for the British Army, followed by a further 2,000—of which 1,625 were equipped with winches.
Powered by a six-cylinder petrol engine, the K6 was introduced as a 3-ton 4x4 general service truck. However, it was frequently deployed in recovery and towing roles, particularly in its winch-equipped configuration. Two main body types were produced: a wheel-arch body for non-winch models, and a flush-sided body for winch-fitted vehicles, which lacked wheel arches. Our model represents the latter.
Although the K6 saw its heaviest use during the Second World War, it remained in British Army service until 1953. Post-war, surplus K6 trucks were acquired by the Danish Army as part of British military redistribution.
This model includes optional steel and wooden body variants, as well as optional 2-pane and 4-pane windscreen frames.
