Sexton 25pdr. SP (Mid-Production)

Sexton 25pdr. SP (Mid-Production)

This model depicts the Canadian built 25pdr. Sexton based on the Ram chassis. Initial production started in 1943 with 424 being completed that year with a total production of 2,150 before the end of hostilities. The first 124 were designated as Sexton I. These early vehicles had the early VVSS suspension without return roller and are also easily identifiable by the 3-piece differential housing and minor changes like the headlamps. The earliest vehicles did not have rear stowage boxes, but photographic evidence confirms that these were later fitted as was the late VVSS suspension and it is this model we offer here. Both these, and the more familiar Sexton II saw action together as artillery support for the armoured divisions. Their operational debut was in Italy and later in Normandy where they replaced the M7 Priest in Field Artillery Regiments at 4 per troop. The late production model (with one-piece differential housing, etc.) is also available.
