Fordson WOT3D 4x2 GS Truck
Commercial trucks built in Britain by the Ford Motor Company were distributed under the Fordson brand which was originally the Ford tractor range name. They produced vehicles for the War Dept., in every payload group from 8cwt to 3ton but their most iconic type was the standard 4x2 30cwt was the WOT3 series. Although introduced as a 1 ton open lorry as the the WOT3A, later versions were classified as 30cwt trucks and differed only slightly. The WOT3B & WOT3C had low sides, the WOT3D had the standard GS body whilst the WOT3E had the standard GS body and two fuel tanks to double the range from a 150 mile radius to a 300 mile radius. Production started in 1940 with approximately 18,000 vehicles built. This version of the Ford WOT3D 3/4ton GS truck used by both the Army and the RAF.
