M10 17pdr. Achilles Mk.IIc (Bolt Hull & Duckbill Counterweights)
This model represents the M10 17pdr. Achilles Mk.IIc SP based on the mid production M10 with the later "Duckbill" turret counterweight, supplied under Lend Lease from early 1944. Following battlefield experience with the M10's in Italy, the British decided that a better gun was required and with this later turret design, which allowed for the greater recoil of the 17pdr., it afforded the opportunity to replace the 3" gun with this superb weapon. Used for the first time in Normandy, it proved to be a very successful conversion and remained in service for many years post war.
