Following their experience at Kursk of the deployment of large numbers of German Panther and Tiger tanks, greater effort was afforded the need to upgrade the KVI series with a heavier gun and armour. The first response was the stopgap 85mm armed KV85 (see BR47) followed in the Autumn of 1943 by the improved IS-85 later redesignated as the IS-1.

The first response was the stopgap 85mm armed KV85 (see BR47) followed in the Autumn of 1943 by the improved IS-85 later redesignated as the IS-1. Following combat experience the decision to use the 85mm gun was reconsidered and eventually all remaining tanks were rearmed with the A19 122mm gun.

Any products purchased 'second hand’, (without proof of direct Milicast Model Company supply, or supply from an Milicast Model Company approved dealer, shop or agent), or any products part assembled or part worked on in any way, are not covered by this returns policy. Under these circumstances no returns will be accepted, however we may quote for the supply of parts to restore the product to full inventory.
