PzKpfw Tiger Ausf. B "King Tiger" with Porsche Turret and Zimmerit

PzKpfw Tiger Ausf. B "King Tiger" with Porsche Turret and Zimmerit

The King Tiger tank—officially the Panzerkampfwagen Tiger Ausf. B or Tiger II—was Nazi Germany’s most powerful operational tank of WWII, combining immense firepower with formidable armour. However, its size and complexity made it logistically burdensome and prone to mechanical failure.

It's first combat use was in the Normandy Campaign in June 1944. The long-barrelled 88 mm gun could penetrate any Allied tank at great distances and it's thick sloped armour made it highly resistant to most Allied anti-tank weapons.

The so-called "Porsche turret" on early King Tiger tanks was not actually designed by Porsche, but by Krupp for Porsche’s initial Tiger II prototype. These turrets were fitted to the first 50 production tanks before the design was changed. The name persists because this turret was originally intended for Porsche’s VK 45.02 (P) prototype. When Henschel’s hull design was selected for production, 50 of these early turrets had already been manufactured. To avoid waste, they were mounted on the first King Tigers.

Our model comes with separate track guards, hatches, spare track links and other small parts allowing flexibility of build.
