Vickers Medium Mk.II* / Mk.II**
This kit has optional parts allowing either the Mk.II* or Mk.II** to be built.
The Medium Mark II* was produced from 1925 until 1934 and was still in service with the Royal Tank Regiment in early 1939.
The Medium Mark II** was an improved version of the Mk.II with a number of changes to external fittings most noticeably the extended bustle for the addition of a radio.
The Medium Mark II variants were produced from 1925 until 1934 and was phased out of service from 1939 onwards. In November of that year however some Medium Mark IIs were sent to Egypt for experiments with Major-General Sir Percy Hobart's Mobile Division (Egypt), but they were phased out before Italy declared war in June 1940. However, during the "Invasion Scare" of that summer, some of these outmoded vehicles were reactivated for a short time. No "mobile" Vickers Mediums Mk.II* ever faced the Italian invasion of Egypt in September 1940, but some were dug in as an armoured pillbox in the British defences at Mersa Matruh at the time of the invasion.
