SP 17pdr. A30 Avenger

This was another attempt to mount the 17pdr. anti-tank gun in a self propelled chassis and had the advantage of overhead protection, but the success of the Archer (UK17) and the availability of the American built M10 series meant that production priority at Vauxhall was given to the new A34 Comet. Although the first pilot model was ready in 1944, and production continued throughout 1945, the 230 vehicles built were not finally completed until 1946. Used by the BAOR in Occupied Germany they would however never see combat. Also our replacement Brass turned barrel with Muzzle Brake available as BAR17M.
