Details:
This may have been the oldest gun in the German WWII
arsenal but it was still the backbone of the Wehrmact.
Contrary to its' 33 nomenclature this weapon was first
issued in 1927 but remained in service until 1945 seeing
action on every front with the exception of North Africa
as it was a usually Horse Drawn Gun. However mounted
on the Panzer II (G72) and on the 38(t) chassis (G86)
they saw action as SPG's in N. Africa.
This was
the largest caliber weapon designated as an infantry
weapon in WWII. So effective was this close support
howitzer that it was used on several types of chassis
as Self-Propelled artillery including the 38(t) "Grille"
(G86), Panzer II SP (G72), Panzer III (G34), Panzer
IV "Brummbar" (G3 & G27) and the very
first SPG as built on the Panzer I Ausf. B (G33) as
shown below.
Our
model reflects the robust nature of this powerful little
infantry support gun.
