Due to the restrictions placed by the Treaty of Versailles
following their defeat in the Great War, Germany was
restricted from developing artillery. As a result they
turned to the development of rocket propulsion as a
means of a delivery system.
This superb weapon,
along with the smaller 15cm Wurfgranate 42 (G73), was
amongst the product of this research the Wermacht made
great use of these weapons.
The highly visible
vapour trail left after firing meant that the weapons
and crews had to vacate the firing area before the return
artillery fire and although initially trailed by light
vehicles, in particular the 1ton Demag Halftrack (G133),
eventually the systems were mounted on armoured halftracks
for greater mobility. (See G82 & G185)
We
also produce a specifically designed crew for this weapon.

FIG.21.
