| Details: The 10.5cm FH 18 Howitzer
was very heavy piece of ordnance and as a result, on the
Russian Front, many had to be abandoned in the mud and
slush of 1941-1942. Resultantly an improvised mount was
produced using the carriage of the newly available PaK40,
with the addition of a larger muzzle brake but retaining
the original large road wheels. They never fully replaced
replaced the FH 18M but served alongside them until wars
end. |
