Details:
Our model depicts the prototype Porsche Tiger with its
distinctive turret configuration.
Ferdinand
Porsche, an acolyte of Hitler, was confident his design
for the new heavy tank to be known as the Tiger would
be accepted, and had both the chassis and track systems
built in anticipation. Henschel's design was however
accepted (see G94) but some of these, with modifications,
were used operationally (see G109).
The remaining
hulls were used to produce the Ferdinand (see G107),
Elephant, Bergertiger (P)(see G106) and in its final
form, as the combat used Tiger P2 (see G140).
This model
builds into a interesting reproduction of this most
important prototype.
