Details:
Introduced in 1941 and based on the Daimler Scout Car,
this was essentially just a larger version. With a 3
man crew, a range of 330km, a top speed of 50mph and
armed with a 2pdr.Gun and coaxial Besa 7.92 MG, this
was a superb armoured car.
Superceded
by the improved Mk.II (UK17),
it can be easily distinguished from the latter by the
rear deck design and early gun mantlet.
They served
together with distinction in N. Africa, Italy, NW Europe
and the Far East. |
