This model
depicts the Canadian built 25pdr. Sexton based on the
Ram chassis. Initial production started in 1943 with
424 being completed that year with a total production
of 2,150 before the end of hostilities.
The first
124 were designated as Sexton I when the later version
appeared (UK25).This model is of this early production
series and is easily identifiable by the 3 piece differential
housing, early VVSS trackwork and minor changes like
the headlamps. The earliest vehicles did not have rear
stowage boxes but photographic evidence suggests that
these were later fitted on the Sexton I. Both these,
and the more familiar Sexton II (UK25) saw action together
as artillery support for the armoured divisions. Their
operational debut was in Normandy were they gradually
replaced the M7 Priest in Field Artillery Regiments
at 4 per troop.
A comprehensive
parts list/instruction leaflet with exploded views is
supplied to aid location and construction of this precise
model.
