The LCP(L)
was supplied to the British by the US and initially
were given the name of
R-Boats.
They were used on Commando raids and the larger amphibious
assaults such as the disasterous Dieppe raid on 19th
August 1942.
They also
took part in the D-Day Landings in Normandy, although
mainly as Survey Craft, Rescue Launches and as guides
for the larger landing craft.
Our
model comes with optional parts for both the unarmoured
early version, suitable for Dieppe, and for the later
armoured type as used on D-Day. With one exception all
photographs are of this model. For 2 more views of the
early version see LCPLUKW.
The tilt hoops
shown are not supplied with the kit.
The
model comes with an illustrated construction sheet and
colour paint guide.
