This was the
most numerous of the British landing craft with a production
total of 1.929 being built, with 60 a month being built
in 1944.
Formally designated
as ALC No.2, they were first used at Narvik, landing
French Legionaires! They went on to be used at every
amphibious landing therafter including the Normandy
landings where R.N. manned craft also landed US Troops.
With a crew
of 4, they could carry 35 troops or a cargo of 800lbs.
