This heavy assault
gun was based on the StuG III Ausf. F/8 which along
with the Ausf. F and Ausf. G had a combined production
of 1,211 vehicles which were built between October 1942
and February 1945.
Only 4 Ausf.
F/8 were converted in late 1942 to the StuH III Ausf.
F/8. They were externally very similar to the StuG III
Ausf. F/8 but had the rear roof plate, with fume extractor,
raised higher and with the obvious change in the main
armament to the 10.5cm L/28 gun.
Our kit depicts
an Ausf. F/8 variant with the retrospectively fitted
MG42 and the destinctive shaped Schurzen plates.
Our
model consists of only 9 parts including optional muzzle
brakes!
