Introduced
in 1933, these 2 man light tanks were equiped with a
short barrelled 37mm gun, and were used in the infantry
support role.
Platoon commanders
vehicles had the long barreled gun and our kit contains
both guns. Used in the Battle of France, around 800
were later used by the Wehrmact, often unmodified, in
Russia. They also saw service with the Rumanians and
in anti-partizan duties in Yugoslavia.
With turrets removed they were also used on the Eastern
Front as Munitionsschleppers and as Artillerie Schleppers
(See BG36). A number of vehicles were used against the
Allies by the Vichy in N. Africa and by the Italians
in Sicily finally seeing action with the Germans in
1944 defending Normandy.
See BG32
for the German version of this vehicle with modified
split cupola, aerial mount, etc.,
