| Details:
This model depicts
the Canadian built 25pdr. Sexton based on the Ram chassis.
Initial production started in 1943 with 424 being completed
that year with a total production of 2,150 before the
end of hostilities.
The first 124
were designated as Sexton I. (Available as Premier kit
UK07) These early vehicles had the early VVSS suspension
without return roller and are also easily identifiable
by the 3 piece differential housing and minor changes
like the headlamps.
This model
represents the late, and numerical most important, type
most easily identified by the one piece differential
housing.
Both types saw
service together as artillery support for the armoured
divisions. Their operational debut was in Italy and
later in Normandy were they replaced the M7 Priest in
Field Artillery Regiments at 4 per troop.
A
mid production type vehicle, refurbished to the late
standard, is available as kit BB87.
