During the Normandy
campaign, the high tank losses sustained by the Allies
resulted in the need to get as many replacements into
the field as possible. Amongst these replacements were
refurbished Churchills of various Marks. The photo shown
below illustrates this perfectly.
The Mk.IXLT
(Light Turret), sometimes
referred to as the Mk.III*, consisted of the Mk.III/IV
hull with applique armour but with an upgraded Mk.III
turret, also with applique armour, and still retaining
the original 6pdr. Gun. They continued in service throughout
NW Europe until wars end.
The
kit is supplied with optional front horns.
