In development
for 2 years, it was not until Nov'43 that 200 of these
17pdr. armed tank destroyers were finally ordered. Resultantly
there was need for further modfications in early '44
and they did not arrive in Normandy until August (no
provision had been made for Deep Wading Trunking!) They
were fast; at 30mph and armed with the 17pdr gave a
good account of themselves in combat, although no better
than the Firefly!
Our
model depicts this big vehicle superbly and all barrels
now come with a metal rod inserted in the resin for
further strength.
