This vehicle
represents the US Army's adoption of British practice
to remove the turrets of redundant light tanks and modifying
them for reconnaisance duties.
With the
introduction of the M24
it was decided to convert remaining M5's
in this manner. The T8 was based on the M5 (US2)
and when mine racks were added this was designated T8E1.
They were used in NW Europe by US recce units.
