Following the
shock of the Ardennes Offensive, all prevarication over
the T26E1 programme was put aside and 20 of these 90mm
prototypes were immediately shipped to the ETO in January
1945 and supplied to the 3rd and 9th Armoured Divisions.
They soon proved to be a success, being almost a match
for the Tiger in hitting power, and so much more manouverable.
Resultantly
in March 1945 the T26E1 was standardized as the M26
Pershing with a production run of over 1,400.
They later
saw action in Okinawa and in the Korean War.
Our
easy to build 13 part model produces an impressive reproduction
of this BIG tank!
All
barrels come with a metel insert for robust handling.
We also intend
to release another version with track guards and additional
stowage as well as the "Super Pershing" and
the M45 (Korean War).
