Details:
Although 830 of these 8 (short) ton Light Tanks were built
by America between March 1943 and February 1944, they
never saw service with US forces as they did not have
a suitable aircraft to carry it!
The British however did in the shape of the Hamilcar glider
and large numbers were supplied to the UK were they renamed
them "Locust". They saw combat when used in
the Rhine crossing operation by 6th Airborne Division
on 24th. March 1945. |
